Well, another day, another quake 3 tournament...

Today's game between [RU]votePassed and [RU]inFinite was a very tight one indeed, running into sudden death @ 15 mins, with votePassed taking the final frag to lead 11-10.

In my opinion, an excellent comeback from votePassed - who was down 9-2 after 10 mins - and who managed an unbelievable run, totally wiping me out in the remaining 5 minutes of the game.

Very well played G, you deserved the win :)

synaPtic (previously aXion) and inFinite played two very close 'friendly' games today on ztn3tourney1. The scores were as follows:
Game 1:
inFinite: 9
synaPtic: 8

Game 2:
synaPtic: 7
inFinite: 4
Clearly the upcoming 1v1, synaPtic vs. inFinite, will be an interesting match.

Let's see if synaPtic can re-deliver those lethal rails on tourney day... :)

The first official office Quake3 tourney kicked off a couple of days ago. The games have been close for the most part, but as we have many players with different skill levels we also have had a couple of lopsided games. One such game has been the 45 to -2 thrashing of [RU]Ch][mera by [RU]Infinite.

The first round of games were all played on CPM1a. We had two extremely close games with [RU]playerName coming away with two narrow victories.

The first game was against the up and coming [RU]Infinite. Infinite took an early lead, 9-2, with about 8 minutes remaining. playerName never panicked and slowly started his run. Infinite's rail was consistently better, but made a couple of late game mistakes that just opened the game up for playerName to snatch. In the dying minutes playerName erased a two frag deficit to lead by two at the end buzzer. The demo will be posted soon for download.

The second close game was [RU]playerName vs [RU]aXion. aXion and playerName have always battled furiosly on this map, and this tourney match was no different. aXion erased an early four frag deficit to take control of the game. With one minute remaining playerName came back from 2 frags down to beat aXion by 1. Final score line, 9-8 to [RU]playerName. This was a brilliant game with interesting tactics and timely rails. The demo will be posted soon for download.

Well, these have been the highlights so far, but there are plenty more games to follow. Currently the tourney has 6 players. All players will play each other 5 times in the round robin - and then 3 more times in the knock-out stages.

So _watchthisspace_.
